The SUCCESSFUL performing arts professionals - dancer, singer, actor, model, whatever are great entrepreneurs!
AND...Successful entrepreneurs are busy innovating and discovering and uncovering ways to take what they do and share it with the world.So if we want to know what makes them successful—in order to improve your own professional endeavors—we need to study successful entrepreneurs. And that is exactly what I have been doing for the last 20 years.
Here's just one of the many things that I have found.
All Successful Entrepreneurs Look at How They Think, Not at What They Do.
If you just observed the actions entrepreneurs take, you would conclude that there isn't that much to be gained from studying them. Each entrepreneur's behavior is as idiosyncratic as they are. You would have to be a Larry Page and Sergey Brin to start Google; or a Mark Zuckerberg to start Facebook; or an Oprah Winfrey to start a production company like Harpo Productions.But—and this is a HUGE but — IF you look at how they reason, you will see some remarkable similarities. The process just about all of them follow in creating their companies looks like this.
They:
1st - They figure out what they REALLY want to do.
2nd - They take a SMALL STEP toward that goal.
3rd - They PAUSE after taking that small step to see what they have learned.
4th - They BUILD off that learning and take another small step.
5th - They PAUSE after taking that step.
6th - They BUILD off what they learned in step two.
7th - They take another SMALL STEP...
